Animal in the city

I've been sitting on this post for way too long. The piece I made is of course the printed zebra shirt dress. I got the print from my old work and from then it was already sitting around waiting for me to do something with it. So what I decided to do is dress shirt with a pleather back and rolled sleeves. I gave the hem a shirt tail shape because hems need details too! Plus it does well to cover up the rear. And here I am sitting by the pool as one of my favorite things to do. just not in a bathing suit. Maybe in a later post, huh?

Maid of the Mist

On my visit to Lewiston, New York for my boyfriend's family wedding I had to make a visit to the magnificent Niagara Falls for this blog post which was just fifteen minutes from his hometown. The dress I'm wearing is what I made so I thought what a perfect iconic place to be in a cute white dress. I would have also liked cross the border to Canada (which is what you see with the buildings pictured!) but we didn't have enough time. Phooey! There's always next time. You also get a glimpse of the Maid of the Mist which is a boat that brings you up to the front of the waterfall where you get showered by the mist of the falls and view the splendor of it all!  I hope you like my dress and the fun cutouts, criss cross back and LOVELY pockets!

Cabo Revisited

I've been on traveling mode lately and it reminded me of one of the best trips this year so far. Cabo! I love that place and hope i'll get to go again. It was great to experience a different environment away from the concrete jungles of Los Angeles. This was the last day on the trip as we got breakfast from the cute little shop run by a San Diego native just following her dream to live in paradise. After picking up the last meal to go, we went back to our hotel Mar de Cortez to grab our bags and joined our driver to take us to the airport. On the way we enjoyed getting background info from the driver on where was the best authentic places to eat as well as super cheap mom and pop's which served same quality plates as all the fancy places overlooking the ocean or marina views. Well I wish we had that detail upon our arrival instead of our departure. Oh well, we loved everything we did and saw there and my knowledge can be used next time we're back! So with that, I hope you enjoy my last outfit featuring this high waisted slit maxi skirt I made!

Dream of my Jeanie

I made this pair of black jeans when I was a wee bit younger. ...ok, a lot younger. 7 years younger! Wow where has the time gone? I did this for the University of Minnesota Lao New Year fashion show. Looking at it (and wearing it) now I am pretty proud with how well it fits and my sewing was not bad at all. I really need to make more versions soon! Don't you think? By the way, I love the shirt I am wearing here. It's so relaxingly comfortable yet the cut on the sides adds a touch of style. Got it from a cute cute store called Fashion of Echo down the street from my place. Definitely checking that place out again.

Down By the Bleachers

Not much to say here. I didn't create anything in this outfit, just great styling if I can say so myself;)  Although I did take a Marylin Monroe-esque halter dress and chopped the top half off to be what is now a darling little pleated skirt. Having only worn the dress once, I didn't feel the dress was my style so I turned it into something that I now wear over and over. It was a chilly day and I LOVE layering so here's how you can stay cute and warm at the same time! OUTFIT: Black faux leather back pack; Urban Outfitters, grey fleece button up sweater; Target, white pin tucked blouse and tights; ZARA, brown belt; ALDO, pleated skirt (dress!); Forever 21, wedge; Bobbi Blu, braceletes/bangel; Bakers.
