Home is where the heart is

For the first time in 6 years I got to visit my family back home in Minneapolis for Thanksgiving. I usually go for Christmas or New Years but this Thanksgiving was extra special because my oldest sister dropped the news that she would be visiting from Laos! It was a no-brainer. Our entire immediate family had not been together for about 3 years since she moved back to the country. I'm proud that she's being Ms. Independent so far away from everyone.

Through out the years that I have been in LA, my home town has gone through some pretty cool changes and I wanted to do some posts from there. This location is some of the things! Of course I picked the coldest day to do this but it was still very worth it.

The item I made for this shoot is simple but it certainly served a huge purpose for this post because how chilly it was making it very appropriate. I made the studded letter beanie right there keeping my head comfy and warm! I think I will be sporting this one very often this winter especially when I'm back home again for Christmas!!! Oh my!!

Let me know if you would like a custom beanie made for you or someone special!

OUTFIT:
Beanie; my design, coat; zara, button up; can't remember for the life of me, sweater; crossroads trading, maxi dress; ross, knee highs; target, booties; love culture

Cross My Heart, For Real

Happy Lao New Year! And Thai New Year, and Cambodian New Year! This post has nothing to do with me celebrating my heritage (Lao'd and proud!)... I just wanted to throw it out there since I didn't get to do anything culturally fun to celebrate this holiday. Maybe next year I'll be luckier. I'm far from everyone who would really know the importance of it is my excuse. So, to make use of my time, here's another post! I vamped up this neon yellow sweater with faux leather cross patches on the front and elbows because I felt the sweater was too much of an electric blob just plain. AND I made the MOST comfortable leggings EVER! The material is so soft and light I need to make more and more in different prints! You can never have too many leggings. Look at my matte grey-green nails!!

Down By the Bleachers

Not much to say here. I didn't create anything in this outfit, just great styling if I can say so myself;)  Although I did take a Marylin Monroe-esque halter dress and chopped the top half off to be what is now a darling little pleated skirt. Having only worn the dress once, I didn't feel the dress was my style so I turned it into something that I now wear over and over. It was a chilly day and I LOVE layering so here's how you can stay cute and warm at the same time! OUTFIT: Black faux leather back pack; Urban Outfitters, grey fleece button up sweater; Target, white pin tucked blouse and tights; ZARA, brown belt; ALDO, pleated skirt (dress!); Forever 21, wedge; Bobbi Blu, braceletes/bangel; Bakers.
