Bulls fan, No Lie

It's basketball bonanza today! All the big NBA teams are playing throughout the day. The game I'm for sure going to watch is the one at 2pm. The Bulls. I have to DVR it for later though because supposedly it's Christmas today and I have to be social.  No one tell me the results, please. I've become a fan since seeing one magical game Derek Rose played last season. From that moment on I have been checking if he will ever come back to play. But no, he's hurt. So here's to crazy looking Noah, Boozer, and Belinelli to put it in the basket more than the Rockettes today! About my outfit: Bulls cap, Adidas; beaded peter pan collar necklace and bracelet; santee alley; sweatshirt with a touch of me (pockets), H&M, Skirt; my creation.

Down By the Bleachers

Not much to say here. I didn't create anything in this outfit, just great styling if I can say so myself;)  Although I did take a Marylin Monroe-esque halter dress and chopped the top half off to be what is now a darling little pleated skirt. Having only worn the dress once, I didn't feel the dress was my style so I turned it into something that I now wear over and over. It was a chilly day and I LOVE layering so here's how you can stay cute and warm at the same time! OUTFIT: Black faux leather back pack; Urban Outfitters, grey fleece button up sweater; Target, white pin tucked blouse and tights; ZARA, brown belt; ALDO, pleated skirt (dress!); Forever 21, wedge; Bobbi Blu, braceletes/bangel; Bakers.

expected fashion unexpected fun

What a great concert I had the opportunity to attend courtesy of my friend Crispin. We went to see No Doubt at the Gibson Amphitheatre with Fitz and the Tantrums as the opening band. As Gwen is not only known and respected for her music, she is equally idolized as a fashion icon, I was excited to see what she would wear for the performance. But first things first, the opening band was really fun to get into during their performance. They gave so much energy especially the co-lead singer Noelle Scaggs. Woo, she worked the stage and the crowd like it was her last show. Also, I couldn't go without noticing how well the leading man Michael Fitzpatrick dressed. It's kind of a given you should be well outfitted if you are performing with Gwen Stefani. I love the jacket he wore and I needed  to get a photo of his jacket he was wearing but my phone couldn't capture it with dark from where we sat. Luckily I caught up with him after his show and was able to get a photo with him! what a great guy! Moving on to No Doubt, their show was so fun to say the least. I felt like I went back in time singing along with her the oldies that made No Doubt, No Doubt. She performed what seemed to be their entire show in a glittery black and white color blocked romper. At the end of a song they all went off stage as if the night was finished. A few minutes later as the fans persisitantly claps and cheers for an encore the band comes back out with a energizer instrumental number. Then she comes out with a second look! Of course, how could she only have one outfit for a show? I loved this outfit! So red devil! I loved her red tuxedo dropped crotch pants. I want it!! I found a few pieces similar to these awesome looks inspired by Michael and Gwen ready to wear!

1 BANDEAU 3 WAYS

This tribal print is soooo fun that I was inspired to make sooo many things with it! I had to start with something so my first immediate spark of genius was a BANDEAU!! Why not start with that? How not? The print and color just shouts something fun like that. Something even cooler about this bandeau is that you can wear it three ways; printed, solid or both. AH HUH. Now, I cannot take credit for the rest of the outfit but I can tell you who are. Necklace from Santee Alley, H&M button up shirt, Forever21 skirt and purse, and Bobbi Blu wedge from Nordstrom. So here it is worn in printed and color blocked. Solid version in a post coming soon with another creation in this print. Camera work by Crispin Vara. Camouflage Color Block

One of the season's trend is military camouflage print. I'm really excited about it because I've seen some cool ways to wear it. Of course, I made a version of my own for the fellas with a color block pocket. The material is a super soft, smooth, light weight knit and the fit is slightly loose as you can see on my lovely hunk of a model. I know some or most have negative thoughts in wearing camo print but fear not. For those who aren't as fashion forward but want to enjoy this print can do so with something subtle like a bow tie or a pocket piece in this masculine trend. If you want to sport a garment such as a jacket, shirt or pant, I like the way you think! As long as it's done tastefully on cuts that are modern and worn confidently like you don't give a Tyrannosaurus Rex, you will rock this look like it should be rocked!

Mr. Updated Plaid

Hi All! I know I have neglected my blogging duties for too long and I am sorry for that. I plan on making it up to you by consistently posting fun stuff for your fashion pleasure from now on.

With that being said, let me present to you my first topic upon my return to the blog world. Mr. Updated Plaid. Pu or polyurethane has a been a hot trend in women's fashion for a while now but I haven't seen menswear really take part in it. So I thought of how to incorporate it into menswear in a way that isn't tacky but instead very fresh and stylish. My idea however involved a button down shirt style which I've never reattempted to do after once failing horribly in trying to construct a women's button down shirt back in school. There was just sooo many pattern pieces to cut and sew together this idea became intimidating to me. But my excitement for my idea was stronger than my fear so here is the end result! Black faux leather on the shoulder epaulet, front/back yokes, pockets, and sleeve slit! You like?
